It's not just us saying that flourishing matters to schools. In fact many major organisations (such as UNESCO and the OECD) are now saying that it should be the MAIN PURPOSE of Education .
UNESCO proposes that flourishing is ‘the central purpose of education’
The OECD says that students need to act with a sense of purpose, which guides them to flourish and thrive in society. The Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues state that ‘flourishing is the widely accepted goal of life’' Martin Seligman and Positive Psychology say that 'flourishing is the goal of education’. The Church of England says that 'education is … at its heart, about human flourishing' Harvard University has a number of education groups now running under its Human Flourishing Program |
